With the luxury jewellery market filled with designs for women, we spotted the gap between the lack of options for men’s jewellery and want to make a collection suitable for this target audience. With that being said, this collection is modern in design which enables the jewellery pieces to be seen on both genders.
The inspiration comes from the abstract lines of modern architecture, we are especially fascinated by the contrast between the straight lines and curves, because it captures the essence of the balance between the two. We also studied the philosophy of Chinese Ying and Yang as reference to introduce fluid lines to bridge and form the jewellery, and therefore achieve the harmony shape.
The form of the jewellery pieces celebrate individual identity and modern sense of art and design. The variety of the collection (includes: Mask, Ring, Long Ring, Brooch and Cuff) allows the wearer to match the jewellery with their outfits accordingly.
The mask is designed for people who live in highly polluted cities such as, Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul, Moscow, and other big metropolises where the air and smog is a big problem. People have to wear air filtering masks to protect themselves from the polluted environment. Normally those are medical masks of different kinds. However, the idea of this mask is to turn this piece into a fashion feature like a jewellery design that a person can use not only as a tool to purify air but also as a fashion accessory.
The Art Mask is an iconic centre piece of the collection. It can be customisable, and a person who wears it can choose what kind of material he or she wants to use in addition to the basic material carbon fibre. A person can use materials like gold, silver, and other precious metals to add to his accessories uniqueness and style.
In terms of functionality of the mask the principle is as follows: the mask which is made of polished carbon fibre (very light and strong material) has a double layer and a microporous surface in the area of nose and mouth. Thus, when the polluted air comes in through the mask it gets filtered and purified by an embedded filter in between the two layers of the mask. Therefore, when a user breathes, he/she inhales the purified air filtered by the mask. It works basically in the same principle as a water filter that we normally use at home on a daily basis.
