Nature gives us energy, peace and feeling of freshness and happiness. In our work, we want people feel connected with nature. It is our friend. It gives us everything, for free, not expecting anything in return. All it needs is to protect it and care about. Our planet’s nature is gradually but steadily being destroyed by us, and it is our responsibility to protect it and respect it. We are the nature, we are the very part of it. People have been always attracted to everything that comes from nature. If we understand that we are connected to all things in nature and from us depends its existence and survival, then there is a great chance it will protect us from extinction.
There is not point to look at the past and design objects for the era that is already gone. That is why all our designs and are contemporary and are created for the present but with thoughts about the future.
When an object is chunky and heavy it creates a feeling of disbalance. Things do not have to be always square and straight. There is no straight line in nature and there is no 90 degrees in nature, so why stick to one degree only.
Balanced design is a balance between opposite properties, for example light VS heavy, static VS dynamic, chunky VS elegant, and so on. The visual balance is something that only trained eye can capture. Usually people with artistic background or creative background have inherent capability to feel the balance between elements. The balance is not about combining parts together into a whole. Balance is about finding relationships between elements within a whole, establishing hierarchies and interdependencies. ‘The whole is greater than the sum of its parts’ once said by Aristotle. This is the essence of balance for us. We do not want to create work that is either too simple or too complex. Finding the balance is a key to a harmonious outcome of creative process.
Dynamics
Our work is never static. It is always dynamic in its expression of form, texture, pattern, etc. The objects that we design always have a possibility to perceive it dynamically from different angles. Each angle opens up some different view, understanding of form and surprises us. It is always surprising while you observe and study our objects of design whether it is architecture, or a space or a product. The objects we design are in dynamic relationship with an observer. When a design object is static people immediately understand it and it does not evoke their interest to explore it from different perspectives. Once we quickly understand it we no longer are interested in it and we want to move our observing eye to something else. That is why it is important for us to keep people engaged into a process of exploration and observation of our works and keep surprising them.
We conduct research about project site, history, cultural background, social aspects of site and potential audience. Our studio approach is more similar to scientific lab method of work rather than a commercial enterprise where innovation is not considered to be within scope of work.
